Asset Creation Timelapses
I worked on this project with an amazing wee team and had a fantastic time!
Today over on Ludum Dare though, we received a comment that was rather jarring, so I’m popping my time-lapse videos from procreate for folks to see:
Video Time-Lapse 01 Video Time-Lapse 02
In these videos, you can see some super sketchy wireframing for in-game layout options, followed by how I created the early & rough UI from before the game shifted theme, a placeholder chibi goblin familiar to follow the cursor around (who stuck around in the end), several spell orb assets, the in-game HUD elements, the additional hand sprite, and the game’s background.
Alongside those assets, I created the reworked game’s UI and the itch pages assets. The other UI elements were created inside Adobe Illustrator, which sadly does not have automatic time-lapse feature built-in, but here’s my art boards anyway:
Our two dedicated sound designers worked from scratch on the games’ audio assets and composition as well. Fere has kindly sent over some images of her process from the jam with a wee summary to explain the images (for any non-sound folks like me).
“…a scoring program, showing the music I ended up making after we did the artistic switch to quasi-japanese”
“…the same program, but for the track I made pre-switch” Fere had worked on some audio pre-theme switch, similarly to the early casino-fantasy inspired UI I initially made.
“…the last one shows me using high quality VST instruments and a DAW to properly render, mix, and master the track”
Thanks for having a wee look behind the scenes!
Cheers, Rosia
